If, and this is a spectacular if, West Ham have an absolute shocker next season and end up going down, and Spurs have a great season, I honestly don't know how some on here would cope. The hatred will go up a notch.

This fetishized, obsessive nature with the Spuds is embarrassing. Yes a lot of them are bell-ends but we look just as bad by giving them so much attention (more than the Standard ever do).

Re: The Evening Standard's Tottenham bias
They are reporting that they will have the most seats. Their mistake is to then say that makes them the biggest club - numbers of seats do not make you the biggest club.

Besides once their shihole is built I expect the Arse and the Plastics to add a few more and put them back in their place.

On that note, will we be able to add to our 54,000 if required?

The only New Years revelation I have managed to keep is not picking up a copy of the Standard on the way home. Absolute cunt of a rag.

Re: The Evening Standard's Tottenham bias
massive bias from the Standard. as Gavros says , its 560 more seats than the Emirates. and i doubt Spurs will have a money spinner like Arsenal's Diamond Club

The Standard is from the Daily Mail stable although some Russian bought a controlling stake a few years back.

Joke Whole 11:55 Thu Jul 9
Re: The Evening Standard's Tottenham bias
Does the Standard not share a stable with the Independent?

That rag has a Tottenham bias so pronounced it scares pigs from 4,000 yards.

Of course, they try to disguise the fact by reporting clubs they consider spurs' equals (the actual Top 4/5) in almost as positive a light, but their language use is unmistakable.

Clubs outside that self-defined "elite", and not just West Ham, get, in general, treated as if they are something unpleasant the reporter has accidentally trodden in and will only sing praise reluctantly and if it's clear they're out of step with the rest of the mass media.

Re: The Evening Standard's Tottenham bias
Ive said this before in the other thread, but i think that the NFL are going to fuck Spurs over big time on this. The only thing they really offer over Wembley is one changing room thats suited for NFL. Wembley dont have to worry about a retractable pitch because so few 90k events are allowed and there's not much overlap with the national team. Wembley has better connections, more hotels, and generally a better atmos for the many fans from outside London that follow the game. It also doesnt have the stigma attached with following a 'London franchise' based at WHL if you support a different football club, especially a London club.

All Wembley really need do is a bit of internal arrangement to create a couple of bigger dressing rooms in the bowels of the stadium. NFL meanwhile use WHL as the 'threat' that they often employ to get Wembley to give them the best financial deal.

Think yourself lucky!

I live on the South Coast and the Evening Argus bias towards Brighton is overwhelming, never as much as a mention of West Ham! I have decided to boycott it until this changes.

El Scorchio 11:36 Thu Jul 9
Re: The Evening Standard's Tottenham bias
The headline clearly just meant they will have a bigger capacity.

However, I have noticed a few of the writers in the standard seem to have a bit of a hard on for spurs, although to be fair Ken Dyer is always waving the West Ham flag.

Private Dancer 11:34 Thu Jul 9
Re: The Evening Standard's Tottenham bias
goose - I make you spot on. By the time they have paid for the stadium they will be so far adrift of Arsenal and Chelsea they may as well be in a different league to them.

I saw this headline myself and although it didn't upset me, I did find it annoying. Cunts.

I never really care what the papers write even if it's about us.

From meeting many a journalist 20 odd years back, you learn that they are generally a set of cunts and that most things they write can never truly be believed.
